| Healthcare has always been a hot topic in society and the hospital has inevitably become one as well. The important goal of modern medical service is to satisfy the explicit and implicit requirements of patients for disease diagnosis and treatment and to provide timely and proper services to patients.Particularly, for the emergency department, improper service or delay may cause overcrowded traffic or high cost, and severe cases may lead to fatal or other serious damage. Therefore, effective and proper service is the greatest concern of the patients and their families in emergency department and a key factor affecting the quality of hospital medical service. In view of this problem, the hospital emergency room queuing system is studied, which can provide theoretical and practical basis for solving the problem of long queue and low efficiency.Firstly, the method of queueing theory is used for the hospital emergency department outpatients who are divided into endangered patients(who are given preemptive priority)and critical patients.Under the priority queueing rule we establish queueing model of emergency department and use the LU-type RG-decomposition method to calculate the performance indicators such as average occupancy of hospital emergency department service stations, left rate of the customers who have been served, average sojourn time, etc. In addition,we put forward measures to improve the service level of hospital emergency department.Secondly,we extend the first model in which the emergency department is divided into red, yellow and green areas and emergency patients are divided into critically serious patients, moderate severe patients and normal patients. On the basis of the first model we give the moderate severe patients with non-preemptive priority. Finally,we apply the results in a certain hospital to demonstrate the queue model, and put forward measures to improve queueing problem of the emergency department. |
