Objective: To investigate the relationship between homocysteine(Hcy)and serum uric acid(UA)level and the severity and cognitive function of white matter lesions(WMLs)in patients with cerebral infarction. Methods: 200 patients with cerebral infarction were selected as control group from May 2015 to November 2016 in our Hospital Department of Neurology, and at the same time cerebral infarction with cerebral white matter lesions in 200 patients as the observation group, two groups of patients with serum Hcy,UA levels were measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay and uric acid oxidase method. The cerebral infarction and cerebral white matter lesions were classified according to TOAST,compared with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction(LAA),small artery occlusion of cerebral infarction(SAO)and cardiogenic cerebral infarction(CE)patients in the three groups of serum Hcy,UA levels, and the Beijing version of the Montreal cognitive assessment scale(Mo CA)scores were compared LAA,SAO and CE;the three groups of patients according to the severity of cerebral white matter lesions were divided into mild group, moderate group and severe group, comparing each TOAST type of cerebral infarction of different lesion in patients with serum Hcy,UA level and Mo CA score.Hcy and UA levels in serum of patients with cerebral infarction and white matter lesions were compared before and after treatment with 28 d,and the Mo CA scores were compared before and after treatment. Results: 1.The serum levels of Hcy and UA in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2,different types of TOAST in cerebral infarction patients with serum Hcy,UA level and Mo CA score in group LAA patients with serum Hcy,UA levels were significantly higher than that in SAO group and CE group, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05);but there is no significant difference between SAO group and CE group among patients(P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in Mo CA score between the three groups(P > 0.05).3,LAA type cerebral infarction patients serum Hcy,UA levels increased with the severity of cerebral white matter lesions and Mo CA scores increased with the severity of cerebral white matter lesions decreased, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05);Hcy and UA serum level in patients with type SAO were severity of cerebral infarction with cerebral white matter lesions increased,Mo CA score with the severity of cerebral white matter lesions decreased, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05); Hcy and UA levels in patients with cerebral infarction were CE with severity of cerebral white matter lesions increased with the severity of cerebral Mo CA score white matter lesions decreased, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).4,CE type cerebral infarction patients serum Hcy,UA levels increased with the severity of cerebral white matter lesions and Mo CA scores increased with the severity of cerebral white matter lesions decreased, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Elevated in patients with cerebral infarction and the severity of white matter lesions with serum Hcy,UA levels increased, and the cognitive function of patients with serum Hcy,UA levels increased,Hcy and UA levels in patients with cerebral infarction and the severity of white matter lesions and cognitive function are related.
