| Objective: Explore the characteristics of sleep apnea in adult polio survivors years after infection. Discuss TcPCO2, SpO2 and pulse frequency change before and after Auto - CPAP or BiPAP treatment.Methods: 42 patients from 308 polio infection survivors received blood oxygen saturation monitoring screen from July 2013 - January 2014 were underwent polysomnography and percutaneous carbon dioxide monitoring. 28 subjects were given Auto - CPAP and 15 subjects were given BiPAP treatment.Results: AHI was highly corrected with ODI4 in the same night, Pearson test correlation coefficient is 0.993(p<0.05). AHI was moderately corrected with ODI4 in difference nights, Pearson test correlation coefficient is 0.555(p<0.05).BMI, neck circumference and AHI were slightly correlated with r=0.316,0.315 respectively. TcPCO2 level was 47.64±3.93mmHg during wakefulness was increased to 49.45±4.27mmHg in sleep.Compared with wakefulness, TcPCO2 in N1, N2, N3, REM sleep were significantly increased (p < 0.05). SpO2 was rised from 94.92±2.18 % to 96.57±1.13 %(p<0.001 )after Auto-CPAP treatment. SpO2 was rised from 94.92±2.18 % to 96.70±1.6 % (p<0.001) after BIPAP treatment.Pulse rate was decreased from 69.36±9.06bpm to 65.78±5.41 bpm after Auto-CPAP treatment and 65.18±5.81 bpm (p<0.05) after BiPAP treatment.Conculsion: (1) AHI from Polysomnography and ODI4 from blood oxygen saturation monitoring was highly corrected (2) Auto - CPAP and BIPAP can increase SpO2 and reduce the pulse frequency, BIPAP effect is more significant in terms of reducing TcPCO2.(3) Auto - CPAP and BIPAP can make AHI significantly decreased after treatment, no significant difference was seen in AHI treatment effect. |
