Objective: To investigate the function in fetuses with Tetralogy of Fallot(TOF)by Tei index(TI)using automatic and manual measurement method. Methods: Thirty fetuses with TOF(case group)diagnosed by echocardiography and eighty-eight normal fetuses(control groups)were collected.Using pulse Doppler to obtain the spectral information of the left ventricular inflow tract and outflow tract,Automatic measurement of left ventricular Tei index(LV-TI)were achieved by using a measurement line placed in the aortic spectrum peak and by the manual measurement method of Tei index obtained step by step to obtain time intervals of the left ventricular inflow tract and outflow tract,Analyzed the influence of gestational age,The differences of LV-TI measured by the two methods and LV-TI between two groups were compared. Results: With TI by automatic measurement method,LV-TI were 0.459±0.051 in control group, and 0.572±0.041 in case group, respectively;using the manual method,LV-TI were 0.444±0.059 in control group, and 0.579±0.059 in case group, respectively. The fetal LV-TI in case group were higher than that in control group by both measurement methods(t=-10.97,P<0.05).Two methods for the control group fetal LV-TI measurement results and the comparison between different gestational age difference has no statistical significance(P>0.05).Different fetal LV-TI of TOF with heavy pulmonary stenosis is bigger than the mild pulmonary stenosis. Conclusions: TI is sensitive index to assess fetal cardiac function with TOF,and TI automatic measurement method may be more simple and accurate than the traditional manual method, which could have a better reliability and repeatability and be easy to apply in clinical practice.
