Evaluate The Surgical Effect And Long-Term Result After Total Repair Of Tetralogy Of Fallot

Objective To analyze the pathologic characteristics of Teralogy of Fallot(TOF) and summarize the experience of the operation for TOF. To evaluate the long-term results of surgical treatment of TOF.Methods 239 TOF cases having been performed operation in our hospital from January 2002 to January 2009 were selected.230 have been performed total correction surgical procedure, among them one-stage 183 cases, two-stage 4 cases. And 106 cases in long-term follow-up,37 cases have detailed echocardiographic data, research the date of before the surgery, postoperative, long-term postoperative echocardiographic data Evaluation the impact of surgery for heart disease indicators.Results 6 cases died in early stage after operation(<30 d),and the hospital mortality was 2.51%. Three of them died from severe low cardiac output syndrome, and three died from perfusion lung and respiratory failure. Follow up 1-12 months,2 case died from arrhythmia caused by chronic pericardiac tendon in late stage. Heart function were improved in other patients. A total of 244 patients survived and had an improved life. Conclusion Repair of tetralogy of Fallot has acceptable morbidity and mortality rates with good long-term outcomes. The heart parameters improve obviously after primary repair of TOF, and can be more better as time longer, but it is difficult for them to be normal. The surgical effect of TOF of different surgical way has relevance to the degree of RVOT's abnormality or PA's growth, the better PA's growth is, the better surgical effect is. The other 9 cases underwent off pump shunt operation.Results 6 cases died in early stage after operation(<30 d),and the hospital mortality was 2.51%. Three of them died from severe low cardiac output syndrome, and three died from perfusion lung and respiratory failure. Follow up 1-12 months,2 case died from arrhythmia caused by chronic pericardiac tendon in late stage. Heart function were improved in other patients.Conclusion Complete correction of malformation and intensive perioperative management were the key factors for successful surgical treatment of TOF.
