ObjectiveThrough questionnaires of general information,self-care ability and anxiety & depression status of elderly maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients in the blood purification center of grade A hospital,we evaluated the effects of self-efficacy intervention on MHD patients and provided these patients scientific basis in order to enhance their self-nursing ability comprehensively and improve their living quality to an extremely high-level.MethodsFrom January 2014 to December 2015,80 elderly MHD patients were recruited as research object from the blood purification center of a grade A hospital, then randomly divided them into the intervention group(n=40)and the control group(n=40).The routine nephrology nursing was used in the control group while the self-efficacy intervention was applied to the intervention group. The questionnaires with general information, hospital anxiety and depression scale(HAD)and self-care ability scale were measured with these two groups of patients' admission. Finally, compare with the difference between the two groups and contrast the self-efficacy of the intervention group with before and after intervention.ResultsA total of 83 questionnaires were distributed and collected, the rate of valid questionnaire was 96.39%(80/83).After the intervention,(1)the scores of four dimensions in the intervention group such as self-concept awareness,self-care responsibility,self-care awareness,self-care skills and general score were significantly higher than those in the control group. The levels of serum albumin(ALB)and hemoglobin(Hb)in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Besides,the levels of serum phosphorus(P),calcium(Ca)and the depression status in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05);the levels of serum sodium(Na)and blood urea nitrogen(BUN)in the intervention group were also significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).(2)And the scores of self-concept awareness,self-care responsibility,self-care awareness,self-care skills in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the levels of serum Ca,ALB and Hb in the intervention group were lower than those in the admission(P<0.05),and the scores of anxiety, depression in the intervention group after intervention were lower than those before intervention(P <0.05).ConclusionSelf-efficacy nursing intervention can effectively improve the self-care ability of MHD patients with chronic renal failure, reduce the levels of blood K,Na,BUN,enhance the levels of serum ALB and Hb,reduce the electrolyte disorder in patients with the incidence of MHD in elderly patients, maintain the internal environment, ameliorate the negative emotion and improve the living quality of those elderly patients.
