Health literacy is an important indicator to evaluate residents' health quality, and the comprehensive reflection of socio-economic development. Our health literacy investigation has been stepped into formalization gradually since 2012. Several provinces, regions across the country launched health literacy testing work continuously to make a survey and analysis about health literacy level toward residents from urban and rural and people from all works of life. The hospital is an important place to implement health education, while the nurses, the best executor of the activities on health education, in the hospital as an important part of medical staff, whose health literacy level has a vital influence on the smooth development of health education activities.Purpose: In this research, health literacy questionnaire and self-rated health state in 2014 were employed to conduct investigation and analysis of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City, estimate nurses health literacy condition in this hospital, find main influence factors affecting health literacy level, provide scientific basis for some working plans, such as make or adjust professional training for hospital nursing administration department; personal appraisal; professional culture avocations; and vocational education.Methods: By means of questionnaire, the investigators entered into every department and conducted on-site investigation by giving out questionnaire to nurses on duty. Before the investigation, the purpose, significance, instructions of questionnaire should be introduced to the respondent by investors. The questionnaire were filled out by respondents themselves, when all items were completed, questionnaires were taken back immediately, and then it was performed by investors to ensure these questionnaires were completed, which was strict in its quality control. The methods of date analysis adopted description analysis, single factor chi-square test, single factor analysis of variance, rank sum test and multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results: 1. In a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City, whose nurses' health literacy is 56.2%, and the other literacy levels including: the literacy level of basic knowledge and concept are 76.6%; healthy life style and behavior literacy are 34.8%; and basic skill literacy is 57.4%. the six categories of health problem literacy level including: scientific health outlook(82.7), infectious diseases prevention literacy(33%),chronic disease prevention literacy(40.8%),safety and first-aid literacy(90.4%),basic medical service(41%),health information literacy(48%).2. The percentage of health literacy total score of nurses of a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City in the standard score reaches “<40%”, “40%~”, “60%~”, “80%~” are 0.9%, 4.7%, 38.2%, 56.2% respectively.3. The respective analysis of total health literacy and three aspects of health literacy of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City demonstrates that health literacy was affected by sex, age, marital status, education background, position, professional title, work seniority, institution establishment, academic department, and faculties. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed professional title and faculties not only were independent influence factors associated with total level of health literacy but also related to basic knowledge and concept literacy. Faculty and institution establishment were not only influence factors associated with possession of health life style but also related to the acquirements of basic skill literacy.4. Among 7 questions involving scientific health outlook, the right rate of understanding health was the highest(98.2%), while the advantages of breastfeeding was the lowest. Among 6 questions involving infectious prevention literacy, the right rate of flu prevention knowledge was the highest(94.9%), while the right way should be taken when had a cough or sneeze was the lowest(37.4%).among 10 questions involving chronic prevention literacy, the right rate of possibilities of children and adolescents suffer from hypochondria was the highest(98.6%), while the advantages of feeding soybean products, such as tofu, soybean milk, was the lowest(21.6%). Among 10 questions involving safety and emergency, the right rate of infusion understanding was the highest(96.9%), while the right treatment to blister caused by mild burns was the lowest(76.7%). Among 12 questions involving basic medical literacy, the right rate of adults' normal pulse was the highest, while the frequency of prenatal examination from pregnancy to childbirth is the lowest(27.6%). Among 5 questions involving health information literacy, the right rate of right attitude towards to strong infectious diseases was the highest(97.1%), while the information-processing ability according to adults' physique BMI standards to discriminant somatotype was the lowest(65.3%).5.The relative analysis of six categories about health problem of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City demonstrates that health literacy was affected by sex, age, marital status, education background, position, professional title, work seniority, institution establishment, academic department, and faculties. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed work seniority, faculties and education background were influence factors associated with outlook of scientific health literacy; nations and work seniority were influence factors related to infectious prevention literacy; institution establishment and faculties were influence factors related to chronic prevention literacy; professional title and faculties were influence factors related to safety and first-aid skills literacy; age and faculties were influence factors related to basic medical literacy; work seniority, faculties and education background were influence factors related to health information literacy.6. The self-assessment about the health of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City was good(50.7%), general(40.5%), bad(8.8%), and the good self-assessment about the health was in the highest proportion.Conclusion: 1. The health literacy level(56.2%) of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City needs to be further enhanced.2. The order of three aspects of health literacy status of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City from high to low was: basic knowledge and concept(76.6%), basic skills(57.4%), health life style and behavior(34.8%).The percent of health life style and behavior was relatively low, the mastered basic knowledge and skills could not be transferred into health behavior successfully.3. The safety and first-aid literacy, scientific health outlook literacy account for the highest level among six categories about health problem of nurses in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City, while chronic disease prevention literacy and infectious disease prevention literacy account for the lowest two.4. Professional title and faculties were influence factors affect health literacy total level and basic knowledge and concept literacy. Faculties and institution establishment were influence factors affect health life style, behavior literacy and basic skill literacy. Institution establishment and faculties were influence factors associated with chronic disease prevention literacy, nation and work seniority were influence factors related to infectious disease prevention literacy.5. In addition to scientific health outlook literacy, other dimensions of health literacy of nurse in a Classified 3A hospital in Qiqihaer City had no correlation to nurse self-assessment on the health.
