Effect Of Child Neglect On Neuropsychological Development In Toddle Hood

Objective: To understand the status of child neglect level and to explore the related influencing factors.Then,to analyze the effect of child neglect on neuropsychological development in toddle hood.Methods:According to the principle of informed consent and voluntary,115 children aged 2~3 years old were selected of regular health checks in child health care clinic in Xishan District Maternity And Child Health Care Centre of Wuxi and three kindergartens of Xishan as the research object.The child care physicians who had been trained used Er-xin scales to assess the children’s neuropsychological development.Then,the parents completed the general information questionnaire,Chinese urban children aged 3~6 neglect Scale,ASQ-C questionnaire.Using X~2 test and Logistic regression to explore the status and the effecting of child neglect on neuropsychological development in toddle hood.Results:(1)Rate of emotional neglect for exclusive breastfeeding group was lower than the non exclusive breastfeeding group with significant difference(X~2 was 3.955,P<0.05).Rate of child neglect in the aspect of educational neglect,safety neglect and medical neglect for children’s father worked for service group was higher than administrative office staff group with significant difference(X~2 was 4.775,4.107 and 6.798 respectively,P<0.05).Rate of physical neglect for children’s mother worked for service group was higher than administrative office staff group with significant difference(X~2 was 4.524,P<0.05).Rate of safety neglect for children in non first marriage families was higher than the children in first-marriage families with significant difference(X~2 was 4.278,P<0.05).Rate of medical neglect for the group with three rooms or less was higher than the group with four rooms or more,it was significant difference(X~2 was 4.536,P<0.05).Rate of physical neglect and safety neglect for the group of family income decrease was higher than the group of family income non decrease with significant difference(X~2 was 4.655 and 4.107 respectively,P<0.05).The multiple logistic regression shows that: parents’ marital status and father’s occupation had obvious influence on educational neglect,parents’ marital status had obvious influence on safety neglect,father’s occupation and family room number had obvious influenct on medical neglect.(2)The effect of educational neglect group on fine motion area in ASQ-C was significant,the score in educational neglect group was superior to the non educational neglect group(t was 2.083,P<0.05).The Logistic regression analysis showed that,after adjusting for the child’s age,gender,delivery modes,exclusive breastfeeding and parents’ marital status,the effect of physical neglect on personal-social area was significant,OR and 95%CI was 3.468(1.077-11.166),the effect of emotional neglect on gross motion area was significant,OR and 95%CI was 8.499(1.149-62.895),the effect of educational neglect on fine motion and personal-social areas was significant,OR and 95%CI was 3.988(1.053-15.100)and 3.748(1.034-13.588)respectively,the effect of medical neglect on personal-social area was significant,OR and 95%CI was 5.706(1.774-18.353).(3)The effect of safety neglect group on final motor area and language development area in Er-xin scales was significant,the score of safety neglect group was superior to the non safety neglect group(t was 2.738 and 2.199 respectively,P<0.05).The effect of educational neglect group on DQ in Er-xin scales was significant,the score of educational neglect group was superior to the non educational neglect group(t was 2.126,P <0.05).After adjusting for the child’s age,gender,delivery modes,exclusive breastfeeding and parents’ marital status,the effect of educational neglect on language development area in Er-xin scales was significant,OR and 95%CI was 3.210(1.071-9.621),the effect of physical neglect on DQ in Er-xin scales was significant,OR and 95%CI was 3.339(1.205-9.256),the effect of educational neglect on DQ in Er-xin scales was significant,OR and 95%CI was 3.310(1.057-10.366).Conclusion:(1)The influence factors of child neglect were feeding way,father’s occupation,mother’s occupation,parents’ marital status,family housing area and family income decrease.(2)The effect of child neglect on gross motion,fine motion and personal-social areas in ASQ-C was significant in toddle hood,however,on the communication and problem solving areas was not significant.(3)The effect of child neglect on final motor area,language area and DQ in Er-xin scales was significant in toddle hood,however,on the gross motor area,adaptation ability area ane social area was not significant.
