Objective To examine the relationship between trace elements and IL-4 in patients with allergic rhinitis(AR) in Ningxia Hui and Han Chinese population。Methods Randomly selected a probability sample of the Ningxia hui and han population according to a epidemiological survey of patients with allergic rhinitis in Ningxia. A total of 260 cases in AR group(130 hui cases, 130 han cases), and 260 cases in normal control group(130 hui cases, 130 han cases). 3ml~5ml venous blood of the subject were centrifuged, and the serum was used for detection. The concentrations of Ig E、IL-4、IL-12 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and the contents of Zn, Mn, Ni, Se and Fe were determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy(ICP-AES), t-Test was used to the difference of serum Ig E, IL-4, IL-12 and trace elements between the AR group and the control group, and the correlation between the trace elements and Ig E、IL-4、IL-12 were analyzed by pearson correlation analysis.Results(1) The serum Ig E、IL-4 levels in hui and han AR patients were higher than those in control group(P<0.05), while the serum IL-12 was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).(2) The serum Ig E level in patients with AR was positively correlated with the levels of IL-4(r=0.758,P<0.01); the Ig E level was negatively correlated with the level of IL-12(r=-0.32,P<0.01); the IL-4 level was negatively correlated with IL-12(r=-0.397,P<0.01).(3) The contents of serum Zn and Se in hui AR patients were lower than those in control group(P<0.05), Ni content was higher than that in control group(P<0.05), the serum Zn level in han AR cases was lower than that in control group,Ni content was higher than that in control group(P<0.05).(4) The serum Ig E level in AR group was positively correlated with Ni(r=0.559, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with Zn(r=-0.615, P<0.01), and serum IL-4 level in AR group was positively correlated with Ni(r=0.671, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with Zn(r=-0.819, P<0.01).(4) The serum IL12 level in AR group was positively correlated with Zn(r=0.288, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with Ni(r=-0.196, P<0.01).Conclusions(1) This study demonstrates that compared with control group,the level of Ig E and IL-4 were increased in AR group, while the level of IL-12 decreased.(2) The serum Ig E level in patients with AR was positively correlated with the levels of IL-4, Ig E level was negatively correlated with the level of IL-12, IL-4 level was negatively correlated with IL-12.(3) The content of Zn and Se in Hui AR group was lower than that in the control group, while the content of Ni increased. The content of serum Zn in Ningxia Han AR group was lower than that in the control group, whlie the content of Ni increased.(4) There is a significant correlation between Ig E、 IL-4、IL-12 and Zn,Ni in the serum of patients with allergic rhinitis in Ningxia hui and han population, indicates trace elements are involved in the occurrence and development of AR, and providing an important basis for the diagnosis and treatment of AR.
