Objective To explore the outcomes of limited laminectomy with undercutting decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods Select between September 2012- 2014 by the Second Hospital of Tangshan City, Hebei Province Spine Surgery treated 55 cases with limited laminectomy who match the inclusion and exclusion Standard and follow-up were analyzed retrospectively. Using JOA and VAS score for patients to assessment patient’s surgical outcomes. To explore imaging results by measurement of the percentage of facet joint preservation, vertebral canal diameter, intervertebral disc height, intervertebral range of motion. Results The 55 patients group of 48 patients have received postoperative follow-up, mean follow-up of 25.2 months. Compared with preoperative,VAS scores and JOA score improved significantly(P< 0. 05), at the time of after 6 months and the last followup, Statistical results have no statistically significant difference. The good rate of was 87.5% after 6 months, 83.3% the last follow-up(2?=0.035, P > 0. 05). The outcomes of CT and MR show a effectively decompression in the central canal and lateral recess. The responsibility section transverse canal diameter was 17.50±1.96 mm, which improved to 20.97±3.10 mm postoperatively(P<0.05). The percentage of facet joint preservation was 91.2%.At last follow: the disc height by the 6.47 ± 1.65 mm reduced to 5.98 ± 2.47 mm, intervertebral motion by the 6.39°±3.12° increased to 6.87°±2.73°, but no significant statistical difference(P>0. 05). There are no re-stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis and lumbar instability at the last follow-up.Conclusions The limited laminectomy with undercutting decompression is an effective procedure, which can effectively decompress spinal canal, relieve the symptoms and maintain postoperative spinal instability.
