The Application Of Dental Operating Microscope In The Root Canal Retreatment

Objective: Complication of root canal system often lead to the failure of root canal treatment,especially when the root canal is variable,changes with age,or the fault of treatment. In this study,the corresponding content were presented and discussed in the present article which dental operating microscope was used to make a retreatment for the patients who experienced the failure of root canal treatment,and then their clinical effect was observed in the short term.Methods:Patients were recruited from the pool of patients who need root canal retreatment in endodontics department of Xia Men dental hospital between May 2014 and November 2015.Clinical and radiological examinations were carried out on the case,then comprehensive analysis,and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic schedule,prognosis were finished before the retreatments.After retreatment,clinical symptoms were observed and evaluated at prior retreatment,posttreatment and 3-month.The observation and evaluation indexes including subjective symptom,clinical examination and X-ray film.And the assessment is according to the “Technical Manuusl and Effects Standard of the Root Canal Treatment”which was published on the Eighth Endodontic Conference Meeting.Results: 1.After the separated instruments were took out by dental operating microscope and ultrasound, follow-up of 3 months,the subjective symptom,clinical examination and X-ray film revealed that all patients had healed. 2.Using the dental operating microscope,all calcified root canals were cured,the patients without any symptom after folloe-up of 3 months. 3.The C-shape root canal was diagnosed and cured after using the dental operating microscopel.After the postoperative follow-up of 3 months,the result is perfect. 4.The missed root canal was searched and cured with the help of dental operating microscope,after retreatment and follow-up of 3-month,the patient had healed. 5.The role of dental operating microscope in diagnosing,locating and curing with the perforation in the root canal is very important.After retreatment,the short-term follow-up results are satisfactory.Conclusion:Researches show that the application of dental operating microscope in the root canal retreament is effective,but the long-term clinical effect remains to be further observation.The clinical cases in hand support this viewpoint.
