All the participants received basic treatment of cerebrovascular and other diseases, as well as routine acupuncture treatment and related rehabilitative training for recovery after stroke. Meanwhile, the patients in the treatment group had acupuncture at scalp acupoints combined with catgut embedding therapy of back-shu acupoints; the patients in the control group were administered with fluoxetine. The patients in both groups were scored with HAMD score and TCM syndrome depression scale before and after the treatment. The score changes of the patients and the clinical efficacy of the therapies were compared and analyzed between the two groups. SPSS 19.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained from the study.Results:1. After 4-week treatment, no significant differences were seen in HAMD score and TCM syndrome depression scale between the two groups (P>0.05)2. There was a significant difference in HAMD score and TCM syndrome depression scale between the two groups after 8-week treatment (P<0.05)3. As for the clinical efficacy, the response rate of the treatment group was 93.33% by HAMD score and 90.00% by TCM syndrome depression scale; the response rate of the control group was 80.00% by HAMD score and 76.67% by TCM syndrome depression scale. There was significant differences between the two groups by statistical test (P<0.05)Conclusion:Acupuncture at scalp acupoints combined with catgut embedding therapy of back-shu acupoints can improve depression and TCM syndromes in the treatment of post-stroke depression, which proves that it is an effective method for the treatment of post-stroke depression.
