Application Of Jiedu Liyan Mixture In Oral Care Of Patients With Orotracheal Intubation

Objective:To observe the clinical effort of Jiedu Liyan mixture in oral care of patients with orotracheal intubation in Intensive Care Unit(ICU)and provide evidence-based basis for choosing an effective care solution and carrying out the best oral care measures.Methods:100 patients with orotracheal intubation in ICU were assigned into the experimental group(50 cases)and the control group(50 cases)by random number table.The control group were treated with normal saline while the experimental group were treated with Jiedu Liyan mixture.Observations were made before carrying out oral care on the first day,the third day and the fifth day respectively.The obvervational indexes included the score of bad breath, the number of oropharyngeal bacterial colonization,the incidence of oral ulcers and the incidence of Ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP).Results:The results showed that(1)On the third and the fifth day, the score of bad breath of experimental group was significantly lower than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05;P<0.01).(2)On the fifth day, the number of oropharyngeal bacterial colonization of experimental group was smaller than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);(3)On the fifth day, the rate of incidence of oral ulcers was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);(4)On the fifth day, the rate of incidence of VAP was lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Application of Jiedu Liyan mixture in oral care can improve the bad breath and reduce the number of oropharyngeal bacterial colonization, the incidence of oralulcers and the incidence of VAP of patients with orotracheal intubation in ICU. Jiedu Liyan mixture can be worth popularizing in clinical practice.
