| Objective: To study the correlation between EB virus and the expression of AKR1B10 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues. Methods: The amount of EB viral nucleic acid in whole blood of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients who have been confirmed were detected by fluorescence quantitative PCR, and at the same time, the expression of AKR1B10 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues were detected by SP immunohistochemitry. All immunchistochemical tissues were observed under a light microscope to estimate the expression levels of AKR1B10 protein on the nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues. We compared the differences of the expression of AKR1B10 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues with different amount of EB virus nucleic acid and found out the correlation between the amount of EB viral nucleic acid and AKR1B10 protein expression.Results:1. The positive rate of AKR1B10 protein expression in the nasopharyngeal cancer tissues was 58.6%.2. In nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues, the positive rate of AKR1B10 protein expression was 70.6%(24/34) in EB virus-positive group, and 47.2%(14/36) in the EB virus-negative group. The positive rate of AKR1B10 protein expression in EB virus positive group was higher than that in EB virus negative group(p<0.05). The nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues were divided into EB virus positive and negative groups based on the amounts of EB viral nucleic acid. The expression level of AKR1B10 protein was positively correlated with the amounts of EB virus nucleic acid(r=0.312, p<0.01). The nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues were divided into four groups(<500 copies/ml, 500~5000, 5000~10000, >10000) based on the amounts of EB viral nucleic acid. The expression level of AKR1B10 protein was positively correlated with the nucleic acid amount of EB virus(r=0.348, p<0.05).Conclusion:The expression level of AKR1B10 protein was positively correlated with the nucleic acid amounts of EB virus(p<0.05), suggesting EB virus might promote the expression of AKR1B10 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues. |
