Objective: Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction is a common disease in the outpatient department of ophthalmology and pediatrics. The clinical manifestations are overflowing tears and pus which greatly affect the appearance of the children. If it cannot be solved,it may be easily complicated with eczema, ectropion and other diseases because of wiping tears, and increase the difficulty of treatment. There are many methods of treatment of congenital lacrimal duct obstruction, and generally can be divided into two types: expectant treatment and surgical treatment.Children are too young to cooperate with doctors,so probing is the way for doctors and parents to choose for its easy and minimal invasive operation.Efficacy and its related factors of probing in the treatment of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction have been researched by many domestic and foreign scholars, but the conclusion is not uniform, and the best time of probing is controversial. The research is based on a retrospective study of children who have been treated with probing in the region, and discuss its effects and the related factors. Methods: From January 2015 to December 2015,123 patients(135 eyes)with congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction who were treated with probing were collected from outpatient department of ophthalmology of Shenyang the fourth hostpital of people. All the children were selected according to the inclusion criteria, and were excluded according to the exclusion criteria. The probing operations were performed with asepsis. After the operation, regular lacrimal irragations must be received by patients, meanwhile, gender, symptoms, age, mode of delivery, site of obstruction, postoperative curative effect, etc should be recorded in details. The judgment of curative effect criteria are as follows: cure: no epiphora and secretions, lacrimal irrigations suggest that completely obstructed, invalid: no relief of epiphora, accompanied or not accompanied by secretions, lacrimal irrigations suggest obstructed.SPSS13.0 software was used for statistical analysis, chi square test was used to compare the effects of probing, all statistical analysis results with P < 0.05 was considerd to have obvious discrepancyResults: After postoperative follow-up of 1 month,106 eyes were cured among the 123 cases(135 eyes)of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction patients,29 eyes were invalid. The total cure rate was 78.5%.All of the children with lacrimal probing surgery goes well, there were no massive hemorrhage, false passage, eyelid swelling and other complications.Single factor analysis showed that the percentage of the total number of children with different gender was similar, different gender children with lacrimal passage treatment have no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05),children with different delivery mode that be treated with probing of the lacrimal passage have no statistically significant(P > 0.05),and in children with different genders have no statistically significant(P>0.05).While children with different symptoms have statistical significance(P = 0.033),there were statistically significant differences in the effect of surgical treatment of children with different probing age(P = 0.022),probing the therapeutic effect between different obstruction for the patients of lacrimal duct was statistically significant(P = 0.001).Conclusion: Success rate of the application of lacrimal passage in the treatment of congenital lacrimal duct obstruction was high.No serious complications occurred, thereore, probing of lacrimal passage is a safe, effective method and it is suitable for wide application in clinic.3 to 6 month of age is the best time for probing of lacrimal passage. The success rate of operation was decreased with the increase of age,so children with symptoms like tears and pus should go to see doctors as soon as possible, invalid expectant treatment should be timely treatment of probing of lacrimal passage.
