Subjective:Research the annotations in Compendium of Materia Medica-nominations to explore its methods and rules,so that to explain the dominant ideas of Li Shizhen and the significance of annotation.Methods:The methods used in this thesis were characters explanation,pharmaceutical analysis and cultural interpretation.Character explanation included the form explanation,sound explanation,semantic explanation and other traditional linguist methods.Pharmaceutical analysis included the shape,smell,function,application,habitus,season,origin and four properties analysis.Traditional cultural interpretation included the argot,quotation,taboo,vulgo and name of pharmacies.Result:Though the methods of characters explanation,pharmaceutical analysis and cultural interpretation,explored the the methods and rules in Compendium of Materia Medica nowminations,summarized the significance and rules in nomination of Li Shizhen and expand the reports collection and research.Conclusions:from the perspective of characters explanation,the rules of Compendium of Materia Medica-nominations were form,sound annotation,sound tracing annotation,sound correction annotation,transition words or modern words annotation.From the perspective of pharmaceutical analysis the rules were form and color annotation,property annotation,effects annotation and origin annotation.From the perspective of cultural interpretation the rules were argot,quotation,taboo,etc..In a word,the annotation Li Shizhen had its own rules,and its significance were:It showed the imaginal and linguistic thinking;it built a new collection style of herbal literature;it manifested the "Name Rectification" conception;it embodied the ability of ancients in investigating laws of things.
