Objective: To investigate trabecular structure changes of osteoarthrosis(OA)of temporomandibular joint(TMJ)in deferent age groups of patients with cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)images.Method: One hundred and thirty nine TMJ OA patients(aged 20-82 years old)were selected as experimental objects, divided into five groups according to age: 20-29 years old,30-39 years old,40-49 years old,50-59 years old,and 60-82 years old.All patients were scanned by CBCT with bilateral mandibular condyles.Trabecular parameters were measured and analyzed. Results: The occurrence of TMJOA was higher in females(73.4%)than males(26.6%),while the incidence of erosion and sclerosis were 63.3% and 69.8%.There wasn’t significant difference of trabecular structure changes between female and male patients in either suffered or health joints(P>0.05).Trabecular thickness from healthy condylar of 60-82 years old sclerosis patients is thinner than the sclerosis patients under 50 years old(P<0.05).Compared with the middle and inferior zone of 20-39 years old erosion and sclerosis patients, superior zone have the highest bone volume fraction, the largest trabecular bone and the lowest trabecular separation in both suffered and health condylar(P<0.05).Trabecular structure in superior zone, middle zone and inferior zone were statistically difference in different age groups, without obvious age-related characteristics. Conclusion: There were some characteristic changes of trabecular structure among different age groups of TMJ OA patients,it contributed to the further study of the relationship between the age and the trabecular structure in osteoarthrosis of TMJ. |
