Objective To understand girls' awareness level of the secondary vocational school on two infectious diseases, to analyze the differences between the two diseases and to find out the reasons, so as to provide recommendations for the implementation of the follow-up measures. Methods Random cluster sampling method was used.337 nursing girl students from a vocational school were selected as survey samples in Wuhu city. In the case of informed consent and privacy, pre-established anonymous self-administered questionnaire was designed. Epidate3.1 was used for the data entry. SPSS 16.0 was used for statistical analyses. The statistical analysis method used in the analysis of chi-square test, single factor, multi factor Logistic regression analysis. Results 62% girls knew the knowledge of AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome),only 47.5% girls knew schistosomiasis. Comparison of two infectious disease knowledge level of understanding in girls, the understanding of AIDS is better than schistosomiasis, and the difference was significant (?2=14.38, P< 0.001). Schistosomiasis' positive attitude accounted for 72.1%. A positive attitude to AIDS accounted for 61.4%. Comparing these girls' attitudes and behavior of two infectious diseases, a more positive perception of schistosomiasis was found, and the difference was statistically significant (?=8.67, P=0.003).Discussion Girls vocational knowledge level of the two infectious diseases are not sufficient, due to the lack of knowledge caused by improper discriminatory attitudes and behavior, to adversely affect the growth of young people, while causing obstruction to both diseases prevention and control work in the population. It may be due to mass media publicity and education and parents, students themselves learn about AIDS so that the level from the knowledge level display, vocational girls AIDS knowledge level is better than schistosomiasis. On the other hand, probably because of lack of knowledge or misunderstanding grasp of knowledge, so the attitude of girls in vocational schistosomiasis behavior than HIV positive. This is perhaps the lack of effective health education about the cause of girls in vocational awareness of both diseases presented differentiation, this perception adversely affect the status quo for the prevention of disease. Conclusions Girls' awareness on schistosomiasis and HIV are below targets. In order to avoid prejudice, discrimination and acts of mistakes of the girls due to lack of knowledge; social concern, school health education and families interventions should be strengthened.
