In the southwestern mountainous area of Sichuan, the climate is very complex, the drought and little rain, and most of the site conditions are poor, so traditional poplar planting forestation and big cuttings forestation survival rate is low, usually only less than 40%. "Mountain poplar mechanical drilling cuttings afforestation technology" is a patent technology for poplar afforestation in the arid and semi-arid area, which is developed by Sichuan Agricultural University. And it has the advantages of low cost, high efficiency, easy operation and so on. This article through the Inquiry experiment of poplar afforestation technology in the southwestern mountainous area of Sichuan,to further optimize the mountain poplar mechanical drilling cuttings afforestation technology. To provide scientific and technological support for poplar afforestation in the southwestern mountainous area of Sichuan or similar ecological areas. The conclusion was summarized as follows:? The survival rate of afforestation was higher in autumn than in winter. Autumn october is the end of the rainy season, at the same time the soil is moist, the temperature is cool, so it is an ideal afforestation season. The survival rate was 90% in the autumn afforestation experiment, and the survival rate was only 71% in the winter afforestation experiment.? The length of cuttings had obvious influence on the afforestation effect. In a certain range, the longer the cuttings, the lower the survival rate. The order of survival rate of afforestation in Xichang Baima is:60cm (92%)> 100cm (84%)> 150cm (67%). But in a certain range, the longer the cuttings, the bigger the growth rate. The order of average length of new branch in Xichang Baima is:150cm (79.84cm)> 100cm (63.24cm)> 60cm (48.15cm); The order of average diameter of the new branche is:150cm (0.66cm)> 100cm (0.48cm)>60cm (0.35cm)? Wrap the cuttings can increase the survival rate and growth. The afforestation survival rate of wrap with the preservative film in Xichang Baima was 87%, The afforestation survival rate of no wrap was only 67%; The average length and diameter of new branch through wrap with the preservative film are 88.31cm and 0.70cm, the average length and diameter of new branch through no wrap are 63.24cm and 0.48cm. The afforestation survival rate of wrap with the polyurethane waterproof coating in Hanyuan Jiuxiang was 92%. the afforestation survival rate of wrap with the alkyd varnish was 88%. but the afforestation survival rate of no wrap was only 71%.?Polyurethane waterproof coating and alkyd varnish all have good wrapping and water retention property, and it has no effect on germination ability of cuttings. Besides, the two kinds of materials afforestation cost are low. The cost of afforestation per hectare of polyurethane waterproof coating is 249.75 RMB, and the alkyd varnish is 266.40 RMB. therefore they have feasibility of practical application.In summary. Optimization of mountain poplar mechanical drilling cuttings afforestation technology for the following:Suitable for autumn afforestation; The length of cuttings in 100cm is better:Wrap the preservative film, polyurethane waterproof coating or alkyd varnish on cuttings.
