Plane intersection is an important part of road. Traffic safety has been a concern. Reasonable setting of traffic safety facilities is one of the effective means to ensure the safety of intersection. But at present, the research on the safety of the intersection in our country is relatively macroscopic and provisions on facilities in relevant standard specification is also introduced by facility classification which is not convenient in practical application of Engineering.In this paper, firstly, the intersection was more detailed divided into 18 categories according to the intersection form, the width of intersection road and signal lamp setting. The state road 101 was taken as the research object to look for 12 types of common typical intersections of it and field surveys was conducted.Secondly, combined with the status of facilities and the relevant provisions of the GB5768-2009, the intersection area commonly used traffic safety facilities were divided into 10 categories according to facility function, which get rid of the shackles of existing facilities respectively, put forward the idea of supporting facilities and design a variety of functional facilities into multiple combination to overall study the effectiveness of the program group including the status group, the national standard group and the special group.Afterwards, through driving simulation experiment method, 9 objective behavior indexes of different types of intersection and different program groups including speed standard deviation, rate of velocity change, braking times, braking effect, first brake point, Jerk, acceleration standard deviation and average velocity were selected respectively to evaluate the effectiveness of the plane intersection traffic safety facilities supporting design scheme from 3 levels including driving safety, intersection foresight and driving comfort. And then evaluation system was constructed.Finally, the slew of optimal setting model on multiple ind ices of traffic safety devices of intersection was established and the optimal facility supporting scheme s of all kinds of intersections were determined. What's more, the grade division method of facilities supporting scheme s was put forward according to idea of the KANO model and various facilities supporting schemes were divided into five forms, reverse scheme, no difference scheme, basic scheme, recommended scheme, and alternative scheme, which the safety of scheme was the most important. Appropriate scheme is selected according to different objective conditions, which can make the maximum benefits.This paper mainly puts forward the idea of the establishment of facilities supporting. Various facilities were supported combination and the whole combination was studied and used. The research methods and conclusions of this paper can provide theory evidence of improving the traffic safety of the intersection, perfect relevant standard specification, guide engineering application and improve the standardization and oneness of the establishment of facilities at the intersection.
