With the rapid development of modern communication technology, serial buses have been more and more used in production and life because of their good anti-interference ability, far transmission distance and so on. Among them, USB bus and Ethernet bus are two kinds of high-speed serial buses which are the most widely used in the modern. In order to facilitate users to analyze or debug USB and Ethernet bus signals, The Mixed-signal oscilloscope (MSO) is added with a function for protocol analysis. The topic in this paper is connected with the function for protocol analysis of USB bus and Ethernet bus. The paper was aimed to design and implement the decoding and triggering function of the two high-speed serial buses. And this target is reached due to the in-depth study of triggering technology used in the MSO and the two high-speed serial bus protocols.Firstly, the framework and whole working process of the MSO is introduced in this paper. According to the introduction, trigger technique plays an important role in the whole working process of MSO.After that, the overall design diagram of the decoding and triggering module is described and the FPGA which is used is also introduced. Then, the paper describes how to design the data selection module, the USB decoding module, the Ethernet decoding module, the USB triggering module, the Ethernet triggering module and the parameter/control module in detail. Finally, the whole design is tested and verified on the MSO which is designed independently. It is turned out that these modules designed in this paper work well with other modules of MSO.
