There is a lot of oily sewage in the industrial production, oily waste water is particularly to the detriment of people's health and cause great harm to production process,so sewage treatment is an urgent front-burner work at present.Gravitational sedimentation is commonly used for oil-water separation,in order to improve the separation efficiency, some plates are applied to the separator.PEX plate is a new type of coalescence plate, which promote the separation efficiency through coalescing the oil droplet and reduce the lift distance of oil droplets.Whereas the influence of dimensional factors and non-dimensional factors of PEX plate on the separation performance is not clear yet for lacking of domestic and foreign research. So it is essential to study the effect of non-dimensional factors on the oil-water separation performance of PEX plate. The separation efficiency of oil droplets with uniform particle diameter in PEX plate at different velocities was studied by using DPM method, and different boundary conditions were considered for comparison analysis. In this situation, oil droplet diameter is 20?m,40?m,60?m,and 80?m,respectively and the velocity is 5m/h,20m/h,40m/h,60m/h and 80m/h,respectively.In addition, the separation process of oil-water in PEX plate with the droplet diameter of Rosin-Rammler distribution under different velocities was studied for comparing with the experimental results. The oil-water separation experiment was carried out on the self-development testing setup, the results show that the concentration of the oil is decreased gradually with the separation process, and the oil concentration of the outlet is increased with the increase of the flow rate. For each velocity, the separation efficiency increases with the increase of oil droplet size, when the particle diameter is greater than 80?m,the separation efficiency is no less than 75% even if the flow rate increases. For each particle size, the separation efficiency decreases with the increase of flow velocity. The experimental and simulation results are consistent at the trends of the parameters, which can validate the numerical simulation process of this work.Through the two methods of numerical simulation and experiment, the influence of non-dimensional factor on the oil-water separation performance of PEX plate was studied, theresults show that the numerical simulation method can be used as study the oil-water separation process of the coalescence plate. The research work can provide some reference for improving the design of PEX plate in oil-water separation.
