In order to obtain the purified flavonoids which is a kind of main activeingredient from Lycium barbarum L., flavonoids from Lycium barbarum L. wereseparated and purified with macroporous resins in this study. Meanwhile, not only thecharacteristics of adsorption and desorption process were studied, but also theadsorption mechanisms were analyzed in the article.Firstly, according to the preselection results of macroporous resins, polar resinADS-7did not perform well, while the other four resins adsorption desorption hadsimilar and good results in the adsorption/desorption process. Continuously, kineticswas conducted at different initial pH of the extract solution, and the best adsorptionresult was obtained at pH7. Next, the kinetic adsorption data were simulated withboth pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order equations and the latter performedbetter, for the reason that correlation coefficients of pseudo-second-order model weregreater than0.99. Moreover, the kinetic adsorption process could be divided into threepart according to Particle diffusion kinetics model. Adsorption thermodynamics datawas obtained at298K,308K and318K. Furthermore, the adsorption isotherm datawere fitted well by Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin-Pyzhev and Dubinin-Radushkevichisotherm models.Secondly, considering the desorption results of the macroporous resins, D101and60%ethanol were selected as the most suitable adsorbent and eluant. Accordingly, chromatography column packed with D101was used to separate and purifyflavonoids. At last, the content of flavonoids in the solute increased from0.58%to10.77%. Finally, the reusability of macroporous resins was investigated in ten runsand the adsorption capacity of the resin did not change in eight runs.
