Agricultural sustainable development is the only way to guarantee agricultural development in the new period, is to promote social, economic, resources and environment harmonious unity and progress of the basic guarantee, is the key of the new rural construction, is an integral part of the harmonious society construction. As a traditional agricultural city in east China’s Guangdong province Heyuan city, for a long time, its own advantageous natural geographical conditions, rich natural resources, achieved great progress in agricultural development. But at the same time, the Heyuan city agricultural development also faces serious problems such asresource shortage,environment worsening.In Heyuan city of agriculture and rural development, on the basis of full investigation understanding, build the Heyuan city agricultural sustainable development evaluation index system, using principal component analysis(pca),the Heyuan city made an evaluation of the agricultural sustainable development ability, find the Heyuan city advantages and obstacles existing in the agricultural sustainable development factors, and use for reference the experience of successful cases at home and abroad, puts forward the Suggestions and countermeasures topromote the development of Heyuan city agricultural sustainable.First, the paper from the economy, society, resources environment, population five aspects to build the Heyuan city agricultural sustainable development evaluation index system, using principal component analysis(pea) for its sustainable development ability is evaluated. Results show that the Heyuan city capability of sustainable agricultural development is improving year by year. But to observe its internal subsystems found that economy, society, population subsystem is on the rise, but the resources and the environment subsystem is in the opposite direction that of Heyuan city agricultural sustainable development is not harmonious factors of the internal.Secondly, through the evaluation index system of comprehensive analysis, and Heyuan city favorable conditions and restricting factors of sustainable agriculture. Heyuan city agriculture irrigation and the development of agricultural mechanization, agricultural base construction, the development of the industrialization of agriculture, farmers’ income increase for agricultural sustainable development provides good condition; Heyuan city agricultural industry structure, however, low conversion rate of science and technology, the lack of water and land resources, the deterioration of environmental factors such as the existence of, still restricts the sustainable development of Heyuan city agriculture.Finally, combined with successful cases at home and abroad, in view of the problems in the agricultural development of Heyuan city, put forward to countermeasures for the sustainable development of Heyuan city agriculture. Mainly are: improving government involvement, multi-channel development of agricultural mechanization, adjusting agricultural industry structure, the implementation of the scientific technology, the protection of agricultural ecological environment, effective control the population.
