A Study On The Performance Improvement Of Research And Development-Manufacturing Interface Management In The H Company New Product Development Process

Manufacture capacity surplus stood out along with the global financial crisis which was broken out in 2008. Now Manufacturing Industry is facing some challenges as follows:order price below than estimated one expanding、customization and a small amount of diversification becoming the market trend, etc. Enhancing the core capabilities of the manufacturing sector can overcome these challenges. Conventional management tools have been more mature. Conversely, improving research and development-manufacturing interface management performance is a blind spot in the new product development. H Company which is in the manufacturing industry is forced to transform its business model from OEM to coexistence of ODM&OEM. The key problems of H Company poor management performance of research and development -manufacturing interface in the new product development process can be found out through the analysis:research and development-manufacturing responsibility assignment is not clear, information transferring is not unobstructed, and enterprise culture is impaired to the management.This paper analyses the low performance of research and development-manufacturing interface management during the new product development process of H Company. Uses the approaches of Project Management, Organizational Behavioral Science and Industrial Engineering theory, combines with the industrial characteristics of the H company and refers to the research achievements of interface management and follows the way of finding problems, asking questions, analyzing problems, and solving the problems to conduct this paper writing and research work. Uses Policy Management,Business Process Improvement,Work Breakdown Structure and Responsibility Matrixes tools to construct the project to solve the problems.This paper makes the following main research work:Combining with the actual needs of H Company, mining problems, collect related fields literature, and identifies research topics. Analyzes cause of the poor interface performance.Selects the main aspects of the problem, and identifies the major breakthrough from the organizational factors, information factors, cultural factors and technical factors. Optimizes and constructs a reasonable ODM organization. Establishs new business processes and improves existing business processes by the business process improvement. Improves interface management performance by the Work Breakdown Structure and Responsibility Matrixes. Policy Management as the key link, integrates costs decreasing function group with proposals improvement corporate culture to create positive energy system.Analyses push factor for the research and development-manufacturing interface to build conceptual model to improve the performance. Builds Key Performance Indicators system by product life cycle perspective for operational monitoring, reviews and continuous improvement, ensures to improve the overall efficiency at product life cycle.This paper starts from the perspective of practice, discusses and summarizes mechanism of action between the obstacle/cause of the performance of research and development-manufacturing interface management in the new product development process. This main research achievement is:to build integration of approaches of Project Management, Organizational Behavioral Science and Industrial Engineering theory to improve performance of research and development-manufacturing interface management construct improvement conceptual model. Helps business owners to focus on key performance indicators to improve companies management and to provide further methods for improving interface management reference for other companies; Decreasing cost function group and proposals improvement operation for research and development-manufacturing interface management performance improvement builds a positive corporate culture system and plays a significant formation of positive energy and provide reference for interface management system for else enterprises.
