Since the foundation of the PRC, more than86,000reservoirs were built, whichinduced a displaced population over26million in resettlement. And it has become adifficult and important issue to solve the economic stagnation in reservoirresettlement,promote a sustainable economic development in reservoir areas andaddress resettlers’ long-term livelihood in recent years. Research and exploration onproblems of the sustainable economic development after resettlement is in the help offinding out its causes and existing problems, and putting forward countermeasures tosolve these problems; and thus, this research can provide theoretical reference towork out resettlement plans more reasonably, improve compensation policy inresettlement and take suitable and feasible ways to resettle the displaced population,and it is also in the needs of ensuring a sustainable development of the hydropowerindustry.On the basis of sustainable development theory,symbiosis theory and systemengineering theory, this thesis, via the analysis of the economic symbiosis system inreservoir resettlement, puts forward a set of evaluation index system of resettlers’sustainable economic development, discusses evaluation methods, and evaluates thecomprehensive level of sustainable economic development after resettlement with thehelp of the analytic hierarchy process method and the principal component analysismethod. Finally, the evaluation method proposed in this essay is validated by thecomprehensible level of resettlers’ sustainable economic development in the reservoirarea of Weng’an country of Goupitan Hydropower Station in the Wujiang DrainageArea. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Factors affecting the sustainable economic development after resettlementis studied, and so is, with the use of the symbiosis, the symbiotic relationship betweenthese factors; a set evaluation index system of the comprehensible level of resettlers’sustainable economic development is built.(2)Methods for evaluating the level of resettlers’ comprehensible sustainableeconomic development within the symbiosis system in reservoir areas is studied. (3) Methods for evaluating the level of resettlers’ comprehensible sustainableeconomic development within the symbiosis system in reservoir areas is verified incase analysis, and countermeasures to address problems in resettlers’ sustainableeconomic development in the construction of water resources and hydropowerprojects in Guizhou Province are proposed.
