From the evolution of space-time perspective, this paper analyzed the destination andmarket space-time structure of inbound tourism in Shanxi province comprehensively andtemporally, summarized the space-time evolution characteristic and law of inboundtourism. At last, some relevant strategies were put forward in order to provide sometheoretical guidance and suggestions for tourism authorities to make decision and tourismpolicy.At first, based on the analysis indicators such as number of tourists who come from HongKong, Macao, Taiwan and others countries, the paper analyzed the destination and marketspace-time structure of inbound tourism in Shanxi province. On the hand of inbound tourismmarket, we divided the development of inbound tourism in Shanxi provinceinto three main stages by the intensity and index of annual changes, and analyzed thegeographic concentration of inbound tourism market by introducing thegeographic concentration index and the shift-share method. On the hand of destination ofinbound tourism, by using the method of standard deviation, coefficient of variation, weresearched on time variations of inbound tourism market in Shanxi province from2001to2011, analyzed the spatial difference of inbound tourism market in every region in Shanxiprovince by market competition model.Then, analyzed the influencing factors of development of inbound tourism in Shanxiprovince by the perspective of abroad and at home, inbound tourism markets are influencedmainly by the factors of abroad, such as international macro environment, political andeconomic relations between countries, tourism competition between tourism markets.Inbound tourism destinations are influenced mainly by endowment of tourism resources,society-economy development, facilities of tourism service, conditions of transportation andlocation.At last, based on analyses of influencing factor of the development of inbound tourism,some further development strategies of inbound tourism in Shanxi Province are put forward:subdivide the inbound tourism market in Shanxi province and improve its structure, integrate the tourism resources and add the unique travel itineraries, build the tourism marketingnetwork and apply the various market promotions, strengthen strategic cooperation betweenthe regions and shape the overall image of inbound tourism.
