In October 2014 Chinese version of Running Man opened a prelude to domestic star competitive reality show, then six satellites TV has launched a six programs of the same type, which have achieved impressive performance ratings. But after the Chinese version of Running Man launched in the third quarter, lots of audience pointed out that star competitive reality shows lack of innovation and are not funny like before. Run For Time which launched by Hunan satellite TV invites more than twenty star to join in, but the rating are not good as expected.Is the problem itself or this type of program is too much to cause the audience tired? The studies at home based on audience perspective to analyze the domestic star competitive reality show star are few, and learning the audience’s social structure characteristics, behavioral characteristics, motivation and attitude will help to understand the problems existing in this type of program. At the same time, television is full of star competitive reality show these days, does it have any effect on the audience?This study will analysis the audiences of star competitive reality show according to McQuail’s audience of three kinds of structure, the uses and gratifications theory, cultivation theory.First of all, the first chapter reviews the background of audience research of the domestic star competitive reality show star, then review related research of other scholars and sort out the theory of audience research, then put forward the research questions and hypotheses, and introduces the research methods.The second chapter combs the domestic and foreign star competitive reality show development history and current situation, then analysis characteristics of the competitive reality show star.The third chapter is the most important chapter, through questionnaires and depth interviews we draw the research results, including social structure, behavior characteristics, motivation and attitude of audiences of domestic star competitive reality show star.The fifth chapter, which is the last chapter, we will summarizes the result of research and analyzes the shortcoming of the research.
