The medium is the intermediary of interpersonal relationship, which plays an important role in the human society and the culture. Media ecology is the study of media technology essence or its internal symbols and material structure which lead to profound micro and macro influence on Culture. Neil Postman believed that the influence of the media ecology on human and society should be understood through three aspects:the sense of environment, the symbolic environment and the social environment. Paul Levinson came up with the soft media determinism and emphasized on the rational choice and use of the media and the media was one of the important factors leading to the development of social and cultural changes on the basis of Neil Postman and hard "media determinism" of Marshall McLuhan. This paper studied the current situation of China’s interpersonal relationship and the impact of the mobile phone on interpersonal relationship from the perspective of soft media determinism.In this paper, the questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews and other research methods was used to observe the use of mobile media and social interpersonal relationships and the influence of the mobile media on interpersonal relationships. Current social interpersonal relationship has undergone profound changes. The traditional interpersonal relationship based on blood relationship and geography has been wakening. The mobile phone has become an important way of interpersonal communication and interpersonal communication is getting more and more technological rationalization dependent on technology media. The real and virtual relationships intersect. The semi-acquaintance society has been formed with the characteristics of weak relationship strengthened and strong relation weaken. Mobile phone media have been developed for human communication needs. After mobile phone being widely used, people are enjoying the convenience and extensive interpersonal communication and interpersonal relationship is no longer confined to space and time. However, people also have to face all sorts of adverse effects caused by the mobile phone media. With its unique characteristics of the media, mobile phones intensified the interpersonal paradox of intimacy and distance, certainty and uncertainty, sharing and closed and cause a crisis of confidence and social disorder and group loneliness and other negative effects. People need more rational understanding of the mobile phone tools to confirm their own values and the direction of development and cultivate healthy relationships.
