This paper aims to summarize the development history and typical trait of musical television programs of Mainland China, to explore the shows’ inevitability in each period and the different characters of each other. And analyze the basic reason of the development, as well as the meaning during the myth and anti-myth’s consultation and confrontation which hidden in the musical television programs. In addition, the "music" in Chinese musical television programs’ role is not only a sound media which connect the audience with the programs, but a symbol of value. No matter the creation or adaptation of the words and music of a song, or the implied feelings behind the song, are able to reflect the prevailing social political and cultural atmosphere. Therefore, we should focus on exploring and analyzing the television programs’ music, it is also an important new argument in this article.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is to analyze the past research, and draw on others’ research experience to provide ideas and methods for the study of this article, and try to find a new entry point for research. The second chapter will discuss the music itself. Music is the soul of the musical television programs. Listening music is not only the enjoyment of hearing, on the fact it is a reflection of the form of socio-economic and political development, or even implies the future direction of society. So it is very necessary to research the song itself. The third chapter will divide and explore the stages of development of musical television programs, exploring the law of development in different time periods and social backgrounds. In addition, this paper will classify the style of the musical television programs. The musical television programs have had a long development process in decades; and there have appeared different type of programs, we should use the method of subdivision to catch all programs’ development context and economic thought and ideology. The fourth chapter will analyze and summarize the development of the musical television programs. The shows will generate differentiated development in longitudinal and transverse directions which decided by political and economic situation. Thus, we need analyze and explore the changes of program behind the changing times. The fifth chapter will reflect the current problems and status of the musical television programs, and put them into the context of globalization and marketization, and identify the bottlenecks and shortcomings of programs, finding solutions to solve the problems. The sixth chapter will sort out and summarize the full text views, and explore how to straighten out the development direction of the television programs. This paper argues that in today’s social context, we should return the focus to the development of the music, and balance the needs of economic interests and culture, so that it can improve the healthy development of musical television programs.
