With the development of modern industry,sliding bearings are widely used to support rotary machine due to a series of satisfactory performances such as large carrying capacity, high impact resistance and good anti-vibration property. Especially,full liquid sliding bearings are getting more and more widely applied. However, the general design and calculation of sliding bearing put the designers into a large, long as well as heavy design process. Benefited from the development of computer science and progress in the research of sliding bearings, scientific researchers can built a sliding bearing calculating and designing software based on a database, which is of great importance to achieve the automatically designing of sliding bearings in different structures and sizes.In this paper, a database of static and dynamic parameters for cylindrical and elliptical dynamic bearings was built, based on which a ‘Performance Analysis Software of Sliding Bearings’ was developed. Therefore, the design of dynamic bearings in different structure and dimension as well as the study of shaft axis track for cylindrical and elliptical dynamic bearings under critical state can be achieved.(1) Based on the functional requirements of the software, the key technology and research method of the software were explored. Visual C# was selected as the programming tool and SQL Server was employed as the underlying database to develop the software. Then the software came into be interactively friendly gradually.After the analysis and designing about the key datatable, put the data which have collected into the database.(2) The software achieved automatically designing of Cylindrical and elliptical dynamic bearings. The calculation flow, calculation steps, parameters selection in design and calculation on cylindrical and elliptical dynamic bearings were illustrated.Finally, by comparing results of the software running results with the examples, the reliability and feasibility of computed results were confirmed. Owing to the accuracy of calculation method, this software supplied a basic platform for the designers and learners of sliding bearings.(3) The dynamic model and shaft axis movement equations were established to study the shaft axis track for cylindrical, dynamic pressure elliptical bearing-rotor system. With the help of database, the normalized charts for shaft axis track at the critical state were obtained under different eccentricity, length-to-diameter ratio and elasticity. The numerical results and charts showed that with the increase of eccentricity, the stability of rotor system supported by cylindrical and elliptical bearings was improved simultaneously. Meanwhile, the elliptical bearing-rotor system stability was better than cylindrical bearing-rotor system. As a valuable reference, this study will receive a great deal of attention from the field of calculation and analysis for shaft axis track.
