China conducted the Second time National investigation on the disabled people in 2006, according to the investigation result, the population of disabled in the country is approximately 82.96 million, and 12.33 million of them are visually impaired. Due to the visual disability, visually impaired people cannot using touchscreen cellphones and tablets to conveniently get access to knowledge and information and communicate with other people like a normal person. The two kinds of main way to get information for blind and visually impaired people is tactile (Braille) and hearing. Due to the limited number of Braille books, teaching difficulties,reads slowly and so on, expanding by way of the auditory and visual ability to blind people access to information barriers to become an important research direction. Now the market is almost no mobile eBook Reader have done adaptation and optimization for visually impaired people, it is very inconvenient for visually impaired people to use. Therefore, to meet the needs of visually impaired people to acquire knowledge through mobile devices, mobile accessibility eBook Reader has a great significance.Firstly, the characteristics of the visually impaired to achieve interaction based on gestures and voice prompts. This method will lower the accuracy requirements for the operation of gestures (such as vertical and horizontal sliding, double-click, swing, etc.), reducing the visually impaired users to use eBook Reader accurate click operation when part of the visually impaired become difficult to complete the operation more difficult, reduce operating time; for the operation must be accurate click, streamline operations, simplify the operation would otherwise require multiple clicks to need only one operation, not only greatly reduce the degree of operational complexity, and enhance the user’s reading efficiency. In addition, in the user’s reading process, we increased the number of humane and intelligent voice prompts to help users more quickly and accurately complete gestures, enhance the user’s reading of the experience.Secondly, The reading mode for the visually impaired also provides a more personalized choices, there are four ways:the text read aloud, read paragraph by paragraph, sentence by sentence and word by word reading aloud, if people did not catch the sentence, choose automatic re-read just gently shake the phone, you can slide up and down on the realization of the sentence under the sentence of switching.Again, some of the e-book market is more difficult to obtain for, we design a reading mode of image recognition, image recognition reading style is mainly used OCR, it generate a optimize algorithm with the foundation of baidu OCR and the greate ability of Opencv。There is no limit on the image size and format to recognize, apply them in the eBook Reader can easily take pictures in reading, you can also save pictures as e-books left to read later.Finally, on the basis of the above research is designed and implemented based on voice prompts and image recognition mobile accessibility Electronic Reader Android platform.
