Cisco produced the first GSR in the world, which laid a solid foundation for the development of the core business in the telecommunication network system. At present, the core of IP network traffic has been replaced by the high-end routers, which provide strong support and guarantee for the explosive growth of IP traffic and make great contributions to the development of computer network. In the internet backbone network, high-end routers play a crucially important role. Compared with low-end routers, the performance, scalability and reliability of the high-end router are much stronger, which are also the most notable feature of the high-end routers.The thesis is based on the author’s practice in Testing Technology Institute of China Mobile Communications Research Academy. As one department that offers professional test and platform support for China Mobile, Testing Technology Institute of China Mobile Communications Research Academy bears heavy responsibilities in researching and evaluating the testing technologies of communication devices, terminals, and services. Besides, it is also in charge of building support system and tool chain for IT research and development. The capacity test for FIB of High-end router is one of the most vital tests among numerous test cases, which could directly reflect the router’s capability of processing routing-forward. The test result will be regarded as an important reference for the Internet access of a device.The capacity test of FIB is accomplished through the connection between the device under test and Spirent tester, which can provide a guarantee for the accuracy and credibility of the test structure. However, Spirent tester needs to be configured with a large number of parameters before its normal operation, which will affect the testing efficiency. The thesis focuses on writing automatic configuration parameter program by applying TCL scripting language, which can greatly improve the testing efficiency and has an extensive practical significance in engineering operations.
