Visualization is a new research field under vigorous development emerging in recent years. Volume rendering is an important research means. The reconstruction of virtual tissues and organs is a hot topic in the field of medical visualization. Virtual heart model can help doctors better analyze the heart disease, and serve as a tool to explore the mechanism of heart disease.Firstly, this paper introduces the related contents of DICOM files, compares the four typical volume rendering methods of the 3D reconstruction of medical images, and emphatically expounds the principle and realization process of the Ray Casting algorithm. In Visual Studio 2010 platform by using Visualization Toolkit (VTK), and programmed by C++ language, Ray Casting algorithm are adopted to reconstruct the heart DICOM image sequence scanned by CT. The simple interactive operations, such as rotation, zoom and transfer, can be realized in the interaction model designed in this paper. The vector and inner points are calculated to form the virtual clipping plane, which in turn is used to incise the 3D object. And the information of cross-section images is obtained, and the corresponding images are displayed on the screen at the same time. Using the clipping technology, we take to clipper the reconstructed heart. According to the 2D cross-section image, we find out the position of the left ventricle of the heart and the left ventricle measurement of the heart is achieved. In this paper, based on these key technologies, such as the 3D reconstruction of heart 2D image sequence, incising 3D model arbitrary surface, extracting and displaying cross-sectional images and the measurement of the left ventricular wall in the model, we design and implement a platform system, this system can not only display the reconstruction of 3D heart, incise cross-sectional images, but also achieve the measurement in two points. Finally, on the basis of BMI (body mass index), divide the obese patients and normal people into two groups according to the age between 32 and 54 years old and between 55 and 77 years old. Then usie SPSS software to perform statistics and analysis of their measured left ventricular wall thickness, and summarize the common features of the obese people heart and the difference of heart between the obese people and normal people, and this can provide certain support for the analysis of the mechanism of myocardial hypertrophy.
