The Government Environmental Communication And Its‘ Construction Of Environment Protection Image

This article argues that in the era of increasing environmental pollution threat to the publics‘ health, the public requirement on the environmental protection for the government is higher; the government also pays more attention to construct its‘ own image of environmental protection. Government environmental communication, such as information disclosure, news reports, environmental propaganda etc., can guide the public to make a positive assessment of its environmental management. Through the construction of environment management image in environmental communication, government can obtain public recognition and support, so as to enhance its‘ authority and credibility.On the basis of the discussion about the environmental communication, this article survey the audience’s perception of the image through the questionnaire,also introducing public political trust and environmental participation to find out its influence. The data indicates that the publics are not satisfied with the state of city’s environment and the government environmental management. At the same time, they have more trust on the mass media and non-governmental organizations. The following empirical analysis proves that the large-scale environmental pollution in the whole country ―forced‖ the public to have the ―axiological trust‖ in the government institutions, non-governmental organizations and the media. Finally, it shows the lack of environmental engagement channel hindered the public environmental participation.Therefore, government earnestly to do a good job of environmental management,which can not only improve the environmental situation, but also enhance the trust of their own. By creating a credible, authoritative government image, it can lead the whole society to participate in the construction of ecological civilization.
