Construction Of Expert Knowledge Map Based On Co-Author Network And Citation Network

Knowledge map, also known as cognitive map, is a kind of knowledge navigation system. It is a navigation tool capable of making tacit and explicit knowledge visible vividly, and it can provide guidance for people who are looking for information needed in specific area. As an important kind of knowledge map, expert knowledge map is playing an increasingly important role on the issues like the construction of personal knowledge of an expert, the identification and evaluation of experts in specific domain, the selection of peer reviewers, etc. Expert knowledge map discussed in this paper is a kind of social network, and experts are seen as nodes in the network.In the past, the method to build an expert knowledge map was single, and the content of the map constructed was also limited. In order to solve the defects of traditional expert knowledge map, this paper presents a new method to construct expert knowledge map, which combines the topic relevance, co-author situation, and citation network together. The basic data of this paper was the bibliographic files of Library and information Science from Web of Science, and the interval of the data loaded is 2005 to 2014. After analyzing the bibliographic files, this paper integrated the relevance of topic, the influence of co-author situation and the information of citation network. After that a model of expert knowledge map based on co-author network and citation network was constructed.In this study, several methods were applied, including literature survey, citation analysis, word frequency analysis and social network analysis, etc. The main innovation of this study is stated as follows. First this paper constructed several models simulating relationship among authors in the academic field, including model of topic, model of co-author network, and model of citation network. Then this paper integrated these models and embed them into the traditional expert knowledge map. In this way, this study can improve the rationality of the construction of expert knowledge map, meanwhile it can enrich the content of the expert knowledge map.
