Views On The Promotion Of Hosting Art Of Talk Show Through The Application Of Performance Skills

It has been a controversial topic whether hosts should adopt performance skills or not for a long time While in various fields of art, many of them have something in common. There are enormous similarities, connection and interaction between performance art and hosting art. Even from the perspective of Performance, hosting art can be seen as a way of performance. As a special media, the talk show, however, the host has already no longer confined to the traditional cultural programs, such as news, sports, and instead they have developed toward variety shows with so many categories and different forms. Even for the traditional news, sports and cultural programs, they have added more sense of humor and interesting points to attract the audience attention and improved the transmission efficiency and quality. All these require a talk show host to master some acting skills to meet the needs of various shows and make special effects for the show though performance. This thesis takes the show host Wang Zijian of the tonight show after 80 as an example, analyzes the promotional function of his mastering and exercising of "performance" skills displayed in the talk show host art and based on that, puts forward the referential value of his performance for the talk show hosts, even variety entertainment show hosts.Except introduction, there are mainly three parts in the this thesis, whose main ideas are as follows:The first part begins with introduction of the concept and features of performance and different kinds of hosting features of talk shows, in order to lay a good foundation for introduction of the connection between performance and talk show hosting. Thanks to the demonstration of the connection, the thesis proves the importance and value of performance in the process of hosting, and at the same time the differences between them two. Purposeful Performance exercise can be adopted according to the contrasts above, and performance skills can be applied in talk show hosting properly.The second part mainly centers on the tonight show after 80 and its host Wang Zijian. At first the thesis discusses the the success of the show from three aspects, which are the mode of the show, the content of the show and the hosting style of the show. Secondly, the performance skills and performance methods adopted by Wang Zijian are analyzed in depth. Lastly the promotion of hosting art done by him through his performance is listed and discussed.The third part first gives positive judgment on Wang Zijian’s proper use of performance skills in the talk show and then selects five representative skills to analyze in depth, which are the precise location of role and personal image, the best application of “inner vision”, excelling in “communication and adaptation”, the skill of “no trace of acting” and proper handling of “speed and rhythm”. With the analysis of the performance skills, the thesis hopes to provide referential value for hosts to master performance skills.In general, the application of "performance” skills in the talk show host activities is of great significance. Host, however, be sure to properly deal with " I " and " other” relationship between the both to strengthen the planning and application of performance skills, but also must pay attention to the show host performance characteristics of without a trace, can we truly achieve the "performance" skill in the process of talk show host art should have the function of the value.
