Today is the era of information explosion. Information has penetrated in everycorner of people’s life. And the information technology has become an necessary skill tohuman being.Therefore, information ability will affect significantly to personal development,especially to college students, who are usually described as the future of our country.Information ability level of college students directly related to the future of our country.Although they have gained basic knowledge in their college life, but there are still morechallenges to face in their career life, they have to learn more professional skills to solvepractical problem. The main problem in current society is that some graduates cannotobtain knowledge from their work because lack of information ability and cannotcomplete work satisfactorily.Study on “Information ability of college students” has great significance to thepromotion of education level. The main reason for above-mentioned problem is thatgraduates often ignore developing information consciousness, which leading to lack ofinformation processing and utilization ability and lack of creative and divergentthinking. They cannot integrated new gained knowledge into their own existingknowledge system and cannot apply to practice. The colleges and universities shouldpay more attention to this problem and try their best to improve information ability ofcollege students by improving teaching content, methods, ideas and teaching evaluation,etc.Based on actuality of information ability training and information processingtheory, the evaluation index of factors affecting college students’ information ability isput forward and is explained detailedly. The qualitative evaluation is changed toquantitative evaluation by using analytic hierarchy and fuzzy comprehensive evaluationmethod. Finally, according to analysis of factors affecting college students’ informationability, the rationalization proposal is put forward form the aspects of students, teachers,schools and state in order to improve information ability of college students.
