The Research For Changsha Ye’s Family Education

The Qing dynasty is the flourishing period for private collections., and there were many collection families. Those well-known collectors in the south of Yangtze River actually had developed their business in Hunan. For example, Yuan Fangying,Tao Shu, Liu Renxi, Tang Chengzhi, Fang Gonghui, Xu Shuming, Li Xisheng and so on. However, their collections can not be preserved well by their descendants. Even though they were popular for a time, they can also be lost quickly. Thus little of them can finally become collector family. Only the Ye’ family in Changsha and He’s family in Daozhou are relatively popular. This essay chooses Ye’s family in Changsha as the study object. It tries to analyze the knowledge transmitted from father to son in Ye’s family, discovering why Ye’s family thrives and why it goes down. And all that are related to their family knowledge.The whole essay is divided into 3 parts: introduction, main body and appendix.In the introduction part, it introduces the current situation and the value of the research. The main body can be divided into four parts. In the first part, it introduces the general information of Ye’s family, especially of the collection activity of Ye’family. In the second part, it gives evidence to confirm Ye’s nephew’s collection activity. The author also introduces the experience of Ye Qixun and Ye Qifa that may be overlooked by others. It re-introduces the birth date of Ye Qifa and explores the current condition of Ye’s family.In the third part, it introduces the acceptance of Ye Qixun and Ye Qifa’s idea and way of collection. Ye Dehui is not only a collector but also a master of Confucian classics and literatures. Compared with other precedents,Ye Qifa and Ye Qixun better succeed the collection idea of Ye Dehui. In the fourth part, Ye Qixun and Ye Qifa gives revise and complement to Ye Dehui’s collections.And it has its own characteristics. It is the heritage and change of Ye brothers’ family knowledge. In the last part, it examines the preface Ye Dehui’s work which has never been published. As the extra material for the main part, it proves the Ye’s family knowledge. Those who study on Ye Dehui concerns more on himself. The author hopes this essay does good to the later researchers.
