"Aurora" Monthly Research

As the position of comments from United Party, Aurora, complied and published by United Party Government Symposium, aimed for “Expressing the party comments, building sound public opinion” and “Researching on the constituent, centralizing power towards the central authorities”, is one of large political comments monthlies. Although the journal’s business just lasts from February to May 1913 for four months, because of being in the important transitional phase, Aurora has a great contribution to the promotion of Chinese democratic politics and the propaganda of Chinese party politics. Besides, the paper not only gives much attention to economic, education, military and so on but also reports Chinese and foreign situation at that time objectively.This article divides into four parts structurally. The founding background of Aurora is generally introduced in the first part. The journal is founded in response to the proper time and conditions when Yuan Shikai strengthens centralized rule and party politics booms up in the early republican period. In order to master and understand the basic information of the paper, the second part successively introduces the relationship with United Party and the attributes of Aurora such as purpose, characteristics, writers, content settings briefly. The contents published is studied in detail in the third part, including propositions on constitutionalism legal issues and views on economic, education, military and other social construction aspects. The last part gives concrete reasons why Aurora stops publication, and makes a summative evaluation.
