The management of capital equipment plays a very important role in theteaching process and practice in college. In recent years, with the expansion of theenrollment scale and the improvement of the operating conditions, the types andnumber of office equipment, laboratory equipment and scientific instruments havebeen on a gradual increase. Thus, the disadvantages of the original management ofdevices become very obvious, which shows its inability in adapting to the modernmanagement. For instance, it is unable to update the dynamic information ofequipments (borrow, transfer, storage and maintaining) in time and can only belimited to the equipment account management; the inaccuracy of the deviceinformation gives rise to the low utilization, which causes a gradual increase of themaintenance cost of the management system. In view of the various problems thathave appeared during the process, and based on the current situation as well as thedemands of colleges, this paper proposes an inventory management system ofuniversity facilities based on the.NET three-tier architecture, which could help thenetwork management of facilities.There are various kinds of main architectures based on the Web applicationprograms which are developed from ASP.NET, including the commonly usedarchitecture based on the components, the layered architecture and the MVCarchitecture. The system used in this paper is three-layer architecture. Using it canbetter support the distributed computing environment. The three-tier architecturerequires lower performance of the clients and can efficiently enhance the security ofsystem. Therefore, the system used in this paper adopts a three-tier architecture,which is a better choice.The paper introduces the relative background information of the inventorymanagement system of facilities, pointing out that this system aims at designing asystem which is easy to be used and managed, and improves its security andreliability. It details the relative technique knowledge which could be used in thedevelopment of the research, the overall design architecture and the system procedure of the development of this system. This research is based on a B/S mode, supportedby.NET platform technology and relies on the computer network of the school,aiming at the realization of the following functions: the device utilization, the usermanagement, the equipment inquiring, the maintenance and updating of equipments,the modification of the original data, equipment scrapping and the statistics. Thissystem basically satisfies the requirement of assets and equipment informationmanagement in colleges and universities, characterized by openness, generality,practicability and flexibility. The employment of this system improves themanagement level of the assets and the work efficiency of the management personnel,as well as the information construction of colleges and universities.
