Mobile communication technology has been developing for decades, and is currently being forward to LTE. The mobile communication network users continue to increase and the rate of communication continues to improve along with the change in communication technology. It brings two big challenges, the energy consumption is rising and the costs continue to increase. Therefore, applying a new implementation of lower energy consumption and higher ability on upgrade and expand to base station is one of the solutions to the above problems, which makes the software-defined radio (SDR) technology based on general-purpose processors (GPP) arouses more interest and gradually become the most potential technology of implementing LTE as well as future base stations.In order to verify the implementation of the LTE real-time communication link on GPP-based software-defined radio platform, we need to build a verification platform of SDR. Digital front-end is one of the key components of SDR system, the main role of the digital front-end is to complete SDR system in the digital-analog/digital-analog conversion and provide a high-rate and low-latency data path between the RF front-end and PC memory.This paper begins from the analysis of the development and introduction of SDR and CPCI technology, describes the purpose and meaning of the design of the modular, scalable, reconfigurable platform of SDR.Secondly, this paper presents a general framework for SDR digital front-end system, and then gives the role of each board systems, functions and structure of the board, followed by the selection of the key components and the choice of interface protocols.Thirdly, according to the general scheme, the complete design of the functional modules of A/D conversion board is expressed, including the schematic design of analog to digital conversion module, digital to analog converter module, serial configuration circuits, clock distribution networks, power system, PCB design, testing and verification.Finally, the conclusion and some ideas for future work are summarized.This thesis is supported by two frontier thesis topic. The design of SDR digital front-end system provided an efficient hardware verification platform for these two projects.
