With the rapid development of social economy and urbanization in China, the number of the urban population and vehicles is increasing, which leads to serious urban traffic congestion. At the same time, more motor vehicle exhaust emission caused by traffic congestion also seriously pollutes the city environment. Scientific research shows that the motor vehicle exhaust contains a variety of toxic or harmful gases, which is not only the cause of acid rain and fog, but also a serious threat to the survival and health of people.According to the diversity of exhaust emission from the traffic road motor vehicles, based on wireless sensor network technology, some key parameters like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides and solid particulate matter are extracted, and a system with the function of detecting a variety of data and uploading in real time is designed. According to the data communication and transmission requirements, a mixture of network data transmission scheme is designed based on the Zigbee short-range communications and GPRS long distance communication. The system uses STM32F103VET6as main control chip based Cortex M3as the kernel. Data collecting node and data forwarding node are adopted modular design to achieve functions of data collection, data storage and data upload on environment parameters. Be similar to WAP, the function of data forwarding node is to repackage data uploaded by data collecting node to realize the optimization of GPRS data, and send data to PC system via GPRS network. The responsibility of PC terminal is to receive and display all parameters, and store the historical data.According to current situation of environmental monitoring technology, this thesis introduces the system underlying hardware and software design scheme based the key parameters collection, data frame set, data storage, data upload and data packet forwarding and several other parts. The author summarizes hardware structure and software design process of the system, and provides the corresponding implementation codes about the key parts of software design. Finally this thesis introduced the design scheme of system software about data display and data storage. According to the functions of data display and storage, the system monitoring interface is designed.In this thesis, the author uses the system to test traffic road environment surrounding the school to prove the accuracy, real-time and stability of the system on data communication. This system will have application value on traffic environment monitoring fields.
