People’s requirement of the data traffic is endless. Though the3rd generation communication techniques supports a much higher data rate, it can’t satisfy such great demand. Meanwhile the large amount of data traffic means the great energy consumption. However, the lack of energy resource as well as the need of sustainable development, the capacity and the energy consumption become the factors restricting the further development of the mobile system. The introduction of the low power node constructing a HetNet (Heterogeneous Networks) gives us the opportunity to break the restriction. And HetNet must be one of the main development directions.In this paper, the various energy-efficient resource deployment techniques will be researched under the background of HetNet.First a brief introduction is given to the background of the Green Radio Techniques, which introduces the research status and the primary focus of energy saving techniques. Then the measurement of energy efficiency and every levels of green techniques is introduced in the macro-perspective. A brief introduction and analysis of the new architecture called Hyper Cellular Networks, which is the cutting-edge technology of Green Radio technology.For the scenario of homogeneous data traffic, the relationship of the coverage’performance and the energy efficiency of the HetNet is analyzed theoretically. And a smallcells-deployment strategy optimizing the energy efficiency of the networks under a certain desire of coverage performance is proposed. Moreover effective capacity is introduced to analyze the coverage performance of the cognitive HetNet, preparing for the later study at the energy efficiency of the cognitive HetNet under a certain QoS constraints. And for the inhomogeneous data traffic scenario, a low-complexity heuristic algorithm is proposed, whose aim is to deploy the small base station in new sites with an optimal energy efficiency.
