Under the background of informationizing and our national education development, there areincreasing works which have to be done in the library. In recent20years, the designconception of reading room and its working model has changed greatly. The traditionalreading room converts to open one. Its working efficiency increased greatly and it directlycontacts with its main trargets—students and professors. With the application of new educational method, the students’ habits have also changed whichconvert to variation from the original independent study basic on books. Today’s readers’behavior contains: formal reading, relax reading and information communication. The formerreading room did not reasonably plan these behaviors causing their interference whichreducing study efficiency. Obviously, the traditional one can not fit the readers’ requests andthe space has to be changed assuring all behaviors to happen at the same time withoutinterference.Taking universes in Nanjing as samples, author reads documents, investigates practical fields, questionnaires, considers their shape and generalizes their strategies. And then, I analysis themand compared them. At last, the author gives some advice for the improvement of readingroom design. I hope it can induce others to reconsider the reading room design in our schooland find a wise way to improve our space.
