With the increasingly deep influence of financial crisis, the proliferationof new media and the growingly fierce competition in media market, the printindustry is confronted with the unprecedented embarrassment. For thenewspaper industry with smaller size and strength in prefecture-level cities,innovative business models are intricately with the survival of this industry.Taking the current condition into consideration, this paper makes aconclusion of the problem in the local newspaper industry in Hunan provincethrough the methods of literature analysis, questionnaire, depth interview,particular case study, analysis with induction and so forth, the problemsinclude that "planned economy" management model constraints thedevelopment of local newspaper industry and other four problems. This papersummarizes the merits and demerits of their business innovation through ananalysis of successful cases of newspaper industry’s business innovation andprovides some advices on the construction on the innovative business modelsof the newspaper industry. Firstly, efforts should be made on theestablishment of the organization of newspaper industry as soon as possible.Secondly, it’s necessary to take advantages of new media, expandnon-newspaper industries and create a series of brand activities. In addition,it’s very useful to establish "Logistics Network" in the same city. At the sametime, it’s better to encourage newspaper printing companies to take part in thecompetitive market. At last, this paper draws a conclusion with the purpose of giving some constructive guidance and theoretical reference on how to assistthe local newspaper industry in Hunan to get rid of adversity.
