Anxi hometown tabloid was the grassroots tabloid which founded early in Fujianprovince and took the lead in resuming. Founded for half a century, it has played animportant role in contacting overseas Anxi people emotion and spreading hometownnews, which has won the affections of overseas Chinese. Based on first-hand data, thearticle concludes three historical stages of development of the tabloid throughempirical method. The article is divided into three parts. In the first part, it sorts outthe historical context of dissemination concerning overseas Chinese in Fujian,reviews the historical process of founded and closed of the tabloid. In the second part,it expounds the development situation of tabloid after the reform and opening-up,explores the social and historical background of resuming of the tabloid, discusses theoperation and management of tabloid, analyzes the context of the tabloid andresearches its communication effect by analyzing the elements in the communicationprocess and the letters of overseas Chinese. In the third part, it explains thetransformation of the tabloid after the new century, analyzes tthe changes andproblems of the tabloid under the new management system and the new mediaenvironment and put forward the policy suggestions to the development of thetabloid.In this article, communication theory is used to analyze the role of Anxihometown tabloid in deepen the relationship of overseas Chinese. Focusing on theparticipation of the overseas Chinese community behind the tabloid, the mechanismof interaction between Anxi folks and overseas Anxi people is studied. Suggestion ofcontinuing playing the role of contacting overseas Chinese affections of Anxihometown tabloid is put forward in the new environment of media and society.
