With the development of the electronic information technology and the increasingof electronic devices, the demand is increasing on the capacity and performance ofmemory card. Because of its advantages of small in size, high in capacity, and security,SD/TF card has emerged as a mainstream memory card.In this paper, the status, development and application of SD/TF standard areintroduced in brief. And the advantages and disadvantages of the available designs arestudied. Based on these analyses, the functionality requirements of the SD/TF cardHOST controller IP is proposed in this paper. The proposed IP supports SD cardspecification3.0version and AHB BUS. Meanwhile, according to the functionalityrequirements, the proposed IP consists of system-bus-adapter and card-adapter. Amongthem, the system-bus-adapter is used to communicate with the AHB bus, and producethe DMA request and interrupt request.The proposed controller is described by Verilog HDL. And this paper built theverification platform. Furthermore, the controller is synthesized used Design Compilerbased on the SMIC0.35um technology library. The synthesis report shows that thecontroller can work at the specified frequency. Compared with the available designs, theproposed designs support more comprehensive functions, and can be operated on ahigher frequency but with a smaller area.
