With the urbanization in China, more and more urban land had been occupied, which brought a large number of land-lost farmers. The topic of land-lost farmers has been the hot issues in the academic research, however, the current academic study about urban adaptation of land-lost farmers is still not much. If the problem about urban adaptation of land-lost farmers can not be solved well, which will hinder the development of urbanization in our country, and have a bad effect on social harmony and stability.Taking a land-lost farmer community in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, and based on the method of interviews and observation method to research the economic, social and psychological urban adaptation of the land-lost farmers. The economical aspects, we choose the occupation, income, consumption and social security four indicators to examine land-lost farmers’ adaptation on the economic front. For the land-lost farmers’ social adaptation, we choose three indicators of leisure time arrangements, social interactions, and community integration and participation to examine. Psychological adaptation is the highest level and ultimate goal for land-lost farmers’ urban adaptation, psychological adaptation of land-lost farmers is mainly through the three indicators of self identity, the evaluation of the city and the change of ideas to complete. Through analyzing the land-lost farmers’ present situation in the economic, social and psychological level. The author finds that there are some problems in the land-lost farmers’ urban adaptation, as follows:good adaptation in the economic level, and marginalization in the occupation; general adaptation in the social level, and social intercourse is homogeneous; poor adaptation in the psychological level, low urban sense of belonging. For the problems of land-lost farmers’ urban adaptation, the author explained them from two aspects of subjective and objective by using the theory of social exclusion and marginalization theories. The first one, subjective factors:the lack of human capital and social capital; and the backwardness and narrow ideology. The second, objective factors:institutional policy is lagging and imperfect; the existence of social exclusion; the absence of community function. Finally, as to the problems of land-lost farmers’ urban adaptation, this thesis gives some corresponding solutions from different aspects.
