The English class is colorful in the high school. T here is listening speaking, reading and writing. But in the English class there are some problems. One of the problems is student’s silence in the English class communication. Because English is a kind of language, it can be improve by constant practice. The method of training English is to speak more practice more ad writing more. Without actual speaking and writing, the level of English will not be raised. The student’s silence is a huge obstacle of studying English in the class communication.In the process of investigation, there are many findings. Every student is up, and they all hope they can fluently speak English and have a good communication with others. And they know that student’s silence in the class communication not only effect English studying but also impact teaching quality. So what made the student silent in the class communication? How to break the students’silence in the class communication? The paper is to solve the problem.This article investigate the present situation, reasons and countermeasures of student’s silent by teachers and students talk, the questionnaire survey and the classroom observation. Firstly, the students’attitude of silence can be got by the research and the performance and dangers of students’ silence also can be got. Based on the current research result, the reasons of student’s silence can be further researched from four perspectives, which are students, teachers, atmosphere and social culture environment.According to these reasons, how to break students’silence of the high school English class communication is analyzed. There are four perspectives to analyze the countermeasures of breaking silence. Firstly, teachers’ factors, to change teachers’ teaching ideas, to improve questioning strategy of teachers, to improve teachers’ teaching style, to set up the good relationship of between teachers and students. Secondly, students’ factors, to let students to set up correct self-awareness, to enhance their own self-confidence, to practice good communication skills and to accumulate the English knowledge and skills, Thirdly, atmosphere factors, to create harmonious classroom atmosphere, to optimize the class structure and scale and to reform the English evaluation mechanism. At last, class culture factors, the measures of breaking students’ silence is taken from three perspectives, that is the physical, mental and system.
